Profile of Larry Williams

Biography

Photo of Larry Williams Larry Williams was the first "Big" name in commodities and in fact helped popularize these markets way back in the 1960's.

Most likely the all time best selling commodity book is his "How I Made a Million Dollars Trading Commodities" as well as the first book on seasonality in commodities, "Sure Thing Commodity Trading". His other books; "The Definitive Guide to Commodity Trading, Volume One and Two", and his current book "Long Term Secrets to Short Term Trading."

His 1982 best seller, "How to Prosper in the Coming Good Years" correctly forecast the largest bull market and surge of economic growth America has ever seen, written at a time when the majority of pundits were calling for exactly the opposite of what Williams forecast.

More than an author though, Larry astounded the commodity world in 1987 when in the Robbins World Cup Trading Championship parlayed $10,000 into over $1,100,000 in the 12 month contest using real money on real trades. This is a record no one has come close to since and only the legendary W.D. Gann may have done it before.

Williams has also served on the board of the National Futures Association representing his fellow Commodity Trading Advisors.

Always the iconoclast, Larry twice ran for the United States Senate in his home state of Montana narrowly losing the general election by a mere few % points on both occasions.

He recently completed his newest book to be published by Wynwood press this fall entitled "The Mountain of Moses", an account of his clandestine trip to Saudi Arabia and documentation of a discovery there that appears to be the true Mt. Sinai.

Larry was also the recipient of Futures Magazine first Doctrine of Future Award in 1998 and mostly recently received Omega Research Lifetime Achievement award in 1999.

A graduate of the University of Oregon, with BS in Journalism, Larry has lectured at the premier investment conferences throughout the world.
