Biography

The son of
Philip A. Fisher, Ken Fisher is best known for his prestigious Portfolio Strategy column in
Forbes, where his 20+ year tenure of high profile calls makes him the sixth longest running columnist in Forbes' 80+ year history.
He is the founder, Chairman and CEO of
Fisher Investments, a multi-billion dollar sized money management firm serving large corporate and public pension plans, as well as endowments, foundations and high net worth individuals.
Ken has written three major finance books including 1984's best-selling stock market book, Super Stocks, published by Dow Jones. He has been published and/or interviewed in virtually every major American finance or business periodical.
His early 1970s theoretical work developed a tool known as the Price Sales Ratio, now a core part of the financial curriculum. In the 1980s his firm created a school of equity style management called domestic small cap value equity, now a major national category for institutional and retail investors. The firm has since branched its research and management in a wide array of style-based categories.
Ken's recent research has focused on the emerging field of behavioralism, where he works with Dr. Meir Statman of
Santa Clara University. Recent research has appeared in the professional and scholarly journals.
Ken's behavioral research developed a new forecasting technique called behavioral-based forecasting upon which he based the forecasts of recent years. These same concepts form a new speech, "Forecasting Made Easy", designed for lay business audiences, showing how to make economic and financial forecasts that beat the pros by taking advantage of the pros' behavioral and "cognitive" errors.
Ken's hobbies include the history of Kings Mountain, California and 19th century redwood lumbering history. He resides in Woodside, California with his wife, Sherrilyn. They have three adult sons.
